In 2011, Fairfax County Public Schools students and Summer STEAM Student Ambassadors Gabby and Garrett Heller (‘15) co-founded Chess 4 Charity, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Since then, they have raised over $20,000 for charities through chess tournaments, including Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater D.C., and the Red Cross Hurricane Sandy Relief Fund. Ambassadors Gabby and Garrett will be holding their fourth annual Chess 4 Charity chess tournament in Northern Virginia on May 22, 2016. One hundred percent of the proceeds will be donated to the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. One of the charity’s mottos is “Even little kids can make a big difference.” Congratulations to Ambassadors Gabby and Garret.
