Virginia STEAM Academy signs Partnership Agreement with Center for Excellence in Education

Virginia STEAM Academy is pleased to announce it has signed a partnership agreement with the Center for Excellence in Education. Headquartered in McLean, Virginia, CEE was founded in 1983 to nurture high school and university scholars to careers of excellence and leadership in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), and to encourage international collaboration between and among leaders in the global community. CEE is internationally recognized for its Research Science Institute which selects 80 of the world’s most accomplished high school students to participate in a free, six-week summer institute in science, engineering and research at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

CEE is gearing up to pilot BioSTEM Clubs which will offer diverse STEM opportunities to students in undeserved urban and rural schools. CEE is piloting its BioSTEM Clubs in an effort to increase awareness of STEM research and career opportunities for underserved students and promote their success in STEM fields.

Virginia STEAM Academy and CEE commit to mutual outreach and sharing of program resources and contacts. Specifically, Virginia STEAM Academy looks forward to identifying Virginia STEAM Academy alumni to act as BioSTEM champions in participating BioSTEM Club schools, identifying Virginia STEAM Academy instructors to participate in CEE-sponsored BioSTEM Club activities, such as webinars and career panels, and sharing and promoting CEE programing opportunities, including USA Biology Olympiad and Research Science Institute, among Virginia STEAM Academy participants.

Likewise, CEE welcomes the opportunity to promote Virginia STEAM Academy resident and teaching assistant position opportunities among CEE graduates, identify CEE leaders and Research Science Institute faculty to serve as keynote speakers or panelists at Virginia STEAM Academy symposia, webinars, and other events, and invite exceptional Virginia STEAM Academy ambassadors, referred by Virginia STEAM Academy, to apply to Research Science Institute.
