Inaugural Professional Development Symposium Demonstrates Partnership and Impact

March 22, 2016 (Richmond) — Virginia STEAM Academy in partnership with Science Museum of Virginia, University of Richmond Museums and Partners in the Arts, along with presenters Nancy Davies, founding head, Orchard House Academy, Dr. Caren Diefenderfer, Hollins Univeristy, and Rebecca Zook, math mastery mentor and joyful learning expert, hosted its first professional development symposium at the Science Museum of Virginia. Virginia STEM Director Amy Harris gave opening remarks. Approximately 50 educators engaged in design-build activities, panel discussion, session talks, and theater circle to identify strategies and research to ignite student engagement and success in math.
